What is the Blur & Pixelate Photo (Hide Info)?
A tool for hiding personal information in a photo before you post it โ faces, car license plates, the address and phone number on a shipping label, account numbers. Drag over what you want to hide, or paint it with the brush, and it's covered instantly. Four methods live in one tool. Mosaic (pixelate) and blur soften an area naturally, solid fill (e.g. black) covers information completely, and emoji stickers hide it playfully. Choose between rectangle drag and freehand brush, and adjust strength, brush size, color, or emoji. Apply an effect to the whole image at once, step back and forth with undo/redo, or reset to the original at any time. Everything is edited in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded. You can safely censor sensitive images and save as PNG or JPG. Free, with no installation or signup.
How to use
- Drop the image you want to censor, or click to choose it.
- Pick an effect (mosaic, blur, solid fill, emoji) and a selection mode (rectangle or brush).
- Drag or brush over the parts to hide, adjusting strength, size, and color.
- Refine with undo/redo, then save as PNG or JPG when done.
Blur & Pixelate Photo (Hide Info) guide
How this tool is used in real work, and what to watch out for.
Mosaic and blur can be reversed โ solid fill is the only complete block
Many people assume mosaic or blur is safe, but at low strength the hidden information can be partially recovered. This is especially risky for text and numbers with few possibilities โ license plates, bank/card numbers, ID numbers.
For anything that truly must be hidden, cover it with a solid fill (black) in this tool. The pixels themselves are replaced, so it can't be recovered by any method. Save mosaic and blur for softening faces or setting a mood.
| Effect | Recovery risk | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Solid fill (black) | None (fully blocks) | Plates, accounts, IDs |
| Mosaic | Yes, if weak | Faces, backgrounds |
| Blur | Yes, if weak | Faces, logos |
| Emoji | None (covers) | Playful hiding |
Hiding wide areas and multiple spots
Use rectangle drag for small spots, and the brush for curves or large areas โ increase the brush size to cover more at once. To blur the whole photo, use "Apply to whole image".
Made a mistake while covering several spots? Undo steps back one action; Reset returns to the start. All editing happens in your browser, so the photo never leaves your device.
Frequently asked questions
Which is safer, mosaic or a black box?
A solid fill (black) is the only complete block. Weak mosaic or blur can sometimes be partially reversed, so for sensitive data like ID numbers, bank accounts, or faces, cover it completely with a solid fill.
Can I hide wide areas or several spots at once?
Yes. Repeat the drag for multiple areas, use the brush to paint large regions freely, or use "Apply to whole image" to blur the entire photo.
I censored the wrong spot.
Use "Undo" to step back, "Redo" to go forward, or "Reset" to return to the original.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. All editing happens in your browser and your photo is never sent to or stored on a server.
