What is the Add Watermark to Photo?
A watermarking tool for when you want to stop your photos being reposted without credit on a blog, Instagram, or a marketplace listing. Drop in a photo, type your text, and your name, handle, or copyright notice is placed over the image. Adjust the position (nine spots), size, opacity, and color, with a live preview. If theft is a real worry, use the tiling option to spread a faint watermark across the entire image. That way even a cropped copy keeps the mark, making unauthorized use much harder. If you'd rather not cover the photo, a semi-transparent mark in the bottom-right corner is a clean default. Everything is processed in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded. You can safely watermark personal photos or unpublished work, and files are saved as lossless PNG. Free, with no installation or signup.
How to use
- Drop the image you want to watermark, or click to choose it.
- Type your watermark text (name, handle, or copyright notice).
- Adjust position, size, opacity, and color; enable tiling if you want full coverage.
- Check the preview, then click "Save (PNG)" to download.

Where and how to place a watermark
A watermark has two goals — crediting your work and preventing theft — and they slightly conflict. To keep the photo looking clean, a small semi-transparent mark in the bottom-right corner is ideal, but then anyone can just crop that corner off and the mark is gone.
To reliably deter theft, tiling a faint mark across the whole image works far better, because it can't simply be cropped or erased. The higher the theft risk (photos for sale, a portfolio), the more tiling is worth it.
- For crediting: bottom-right · around 40% opacity · small size.
- For theft protection: tiled · 20–35% opacity · white or black.
- Use black on light backgrounds and white on dark ones for visibility.
Your photos never leave your device
This watermarking tool processes images in your browser instead of uploading them. Photos with faces, unpublished work, or pre-contract drafts can all be watermarked safely.
Files are saved as lossless PNG, preserving the original resolution — fine even for print originals. Note that a PNG photo may be larger than the original JPG.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Watermarking runs entirely in your browser, and your photo is never sent to or stored on a server. It works offline too.
Can I use a logo image as the watermark?
This tool applies a text watermark — great for crediting with your name, handle, or a copyright line.
How do I make the watermark hard to remove?
Turn on tiling to spread a faint mark across the whole image. Even if someone crops it, the watermark remains, making removal much harder.
Does saving reduce the quality?
Files are saved as lossless PNG, preserving the original resolution and quality. Note the PNG file may be larger than the original JPG.
